Palo Alto Gas - July 13 - $4.95

So I was in Paly again this past Sunday, and I stopped by the Shell Station to see how gas is doing.  In about six weeks time, we have roughly 8% increase in the prices.  For premium buyers, they'll surely be paying $5 before August.  For the rest, at these rates, the price will top $5 by the end fo the summer.   Amazing.  Next time I'm in Palo Alto, I have to go to the dentist, sometime in August, I'll check again.

That's just plain nasty,,
Well we found out that locally we have a "Hydrogen" service station, "Solar powered" of course, that is going in , in neighboring South Portland, Maine. btw; the per gallon price will be about $6.00/gal 'til it gets more widespread and production & use is kicked up . the exhaust is H2O ,,,
Some things make sense certainly a major transition becomes so much more sensible.
Between this image and the one before;
That's quite the jump ,
& were all feeling it.

@chris: thanks for the comments. clean-burning hydrogen sounds like a plan, but that's going to take a while and people will have to be dragged kicking-and-screaming to make that change. on the other hand, if gas prices keep climbing this quickly, we all may run out of options. my next planned trip to palo alto will be in about one month... i'll make sure i take another camphone picture of that Shell price menu. my guess is: the prices will be higher. Question is: how much.

'Know what you're saying, it will take time, fact is this technology has been with us well over a decade, yet we get motivated by the economics not the environmental. Now it's "neck & neck" the price per unit and the environmental "soundness & sweetness" .
Bet it's closer to the per unit price for Hydrogen and the oddity is that fuel will likely drop in price as generation facilities
become more prevalent/common place as this long transition takes place away from fossil fuel as the primary mode to motor.
