BART Signs: Improving IA

BART made a subtle change to their station information signs that I’ve noticed for a while and finally captured on cameraphone today.  The signs used to just show the next two trains expected at the particular station:

   FREMONT
   10 CAR TRAIN

   RICHMOND
   9 CAR TRAIN

The slight change—really an upgradeis that now the signs show the next two trains and their estimated arrival times–the “1,16 MIN” part: trains for that line will be arriving in 1 minute, and in 16 minutes.

   FREMONT   1, 16 MIN
   10 CAR TRAIN

   RICHMOND   6, 21 MIN
   9 CAR TRAIN

This one change immediately makes the sign much more informative and useful to commuters, who are most concerned with whatyou got it: time.  I like when the information you’re given is actually helpful.  This is a was a nice information architecture improvement BART.  Good job.
